Messier 92 is a globular cluster in the constellation Hercules.

It was discovered by Johann Elert Bode in 1777 and independently rediscovered by Charles Messier on March 18, 1781, the same day as he catalogued 8 objects in the Virgo Galaxy Cluster - (M84 - M91)

William Herschel was the first to resolve the cluster into individual stars in 1783.

M92 is approaching us at 112 km/sec.

In about 14,000 years, Messier 92 will be closer than 1 degree of the North Celestial Pole due to Earths precession.
